OLP
Client: OLP
Agency: Innovate by Day (Contract)
Scope: Rebrand, Visual Identity, and Collateral.
Role: Rebranding of visual assets in both French & English.
The Official Language Program (OLP) is a group of government funded programs designed to help individuals learn French and immersive themselves in Francophone culture. The groups are subdivided in three programs: Explore, Destination Clic, and Odyssey.
As a contract freelancer designer for Innovate by Day, my role was to redesign/rebrand visual assets starting with postcards. The challenge was to create a new modern visual identity, but still sticking to certain brand guidelines. To learn how I tackled this challenge, please scroll down to view the case study.
Ideation
The goal was to increase visual interest and refresh the brand. In order for this to be achieved, a modern and more simplified redesign was in order. My solution to this redesign, was to create a one specific concept behind the messaging: an individual’s personal story.
To visually represent my concept, I used one individual who resembled the target audience and put a quote beside them – almost like a speech bubble. These quotes were all taken from people who had been in the programs and I selected each one that would resonate the best with the program’s target audience. Explore and Destination programs are targeted towards students, so I chose quotes about making friends and how this was a fun experience. Odyssey is targeted towards young adults who are going to be teaching, so I chose quotes that mentioned success.
Final Product - Version 1
Two versions of the postcard designs were chosen. In the first version, the client wanted to go with my previous design, but with a different image selection. The new images were meant to display younger students and to highlight student interactions in the programs.
The second version of the postcards were meant to be more text heavy and relay less on the image. This design allowed for more copy to added to the cover if needed.
